About Heather
I am Heather D’Amico, owner of D’Amico Travel. My career began as a 7th grade math teacher. While I loved working with my students, coaching track, collaborating with amazing colleagues, and making math fun – I knew I was meant for something else. I earned my Master’s in Business Administration from Rutgers University and starting planning vacations in 2012. I married one of the greatest people I have ever met that year and a year later, my biggest dream came true as I became a mom to my daughter – Gianna. A couple years later my “Little David” came along to complete our family. I learned first-hand how running a household and business can be a challenge – but worth it!
Traveling is something I do best! I am so lucky to travel often and to many different destinations for different purposes. I travel with groups friends, as a couple, with children of all ages, and even alone for business- so I have a lot of personal experience to help you get away at all stages of your life.
If I’m not on an island or in another country, I am surrounded by family and friends. I cherish my relationships with those I love in my close-knit circle. My hobbies include cleaning, organizing, working, and watching kid-friendly TV! I’m being funny… However, while that is how I spend most of my time, I enjoy hiking with my family, and I recently learned how to ski with the kids in Utah.
In 2012 I took over the small operation that began in 2001. We worked from a spare bedroom in our home and then moved to our basement. Years later, we upgraded our location to a gorgeous lake-front office in our hometown of Hammonton. A fun fact is that our town is known as “The Blueberry Capital of the World.” Ironically enough my family owns a blueberry farm! I bring my office at the farm every season and help my dad run the everyday operations.
I would have never survived the early years (or now!) without my sister, Mandee, right by my side. Her start in the business was to help me with the baby while working two other jobs. Before we knew it- she was practically living at my house for the next few years working around the clock. I will always be grateful to her for devoting everything she had to be there for me. She will forever be my best sidekick.
We are now lucky to work with an amazing staff who we consider friends, along with an awesome group of outside agents. I am so proud to work alongside such dedicated people who help D’Amico Travel continue to evolve and be better. We have also linked up with a group of like-minded business owners who are truly the best in the travel world. Our personal relationships with top executives in the industry make us a stand-out agency to work with. Our accounts are priorities, and we are given special perks that enhance our client’s experience from start to finish.
I am so proud to say that our company has mainly grown through referrals.. We attribute that to going above and beyond with great customer service, being available and responsive, traveling often to gain first-hand knowledge of top destinations, investing in technology, and continuing our education to enhance our expertise. Many of our original clients still use our services!
We do not take our success for granted. We will continue to strive to uphold our values and never forget the hard work to got us to this point. We are grateful every day to be in an industry that brings joy to others and helps to make dreams come true. We hope to make a difference in our clients’ lives by designing vacations that they will cherish forever!
Thinking of the future is very exciting to me! I look forward to exploring more of the world with my family and friends; growing as a wife, mother and business owner; and most of all being able to provide my children with countless happy memories and endless amounts of love.
Most Memorable Vacation: Every vacation is special in its own way — Here are my top two : The first is traveling across the map and staying in an overwater bungalow in the Maldives for my 5 year wedding anniversary. And secondly, our two week vacation in Hawaii Aug 2021 with my husband and awesome kids. We especially loved staying at the Disney Aulani (For my first visit, I was pregnant with Gianna and will never forget her kicking me while I was laying by the pool!) and exploring Kauai – the Na Pali coastline is something I wish everyone could witness once in their lifetime!
Favorite Quote: Not a quote but I love hearing my husband and kids say “I love you” more than anything because I know they mean it.
Pro Tip: Overcome your fears and make travel happen. The moment of discomfort is temporary and you will forget all about it… but what you will experience on that vacation will last forever.
Favorite Destination: Mexico – I never miss a year (not even 2020) without traveling to my home away from home! It is not uncommon for me to visit Mexico 2 or 3 times a year- and that is NOT and that exaggeration.
Best Travel Souvenir You’ve Collected: I’m going to be cheesy and say… memories 🙂
